Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was raised and born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mom is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years old, her father landed in the role of curator at City's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historical landmark. In 2005 she graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with majoring in vocal music. Sullivan started singing as a contralto children's choirand just a few years later, in the adult group. His exposure to secular music was at first sporadic "I did solos at church . Someone wanted me to be a part of a gospel label when I was eleven but I wasn't prepared to sign that contract," she recalls. "Then when McDonald's held a contest for children in cities of the world I was invited to perform "Accept What God Wills' on Showtime in the Apollo and the audience loved it". The singer performed along with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday at the age of thirteen. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age 15. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records at the age fifteen. She was the producer of an entire album. However, this album did not see release. Sullivan was later removed by the label. Missy Elliott was her producer for several tracks on her debut album. One of them is "Backstabbers" by Timbaland that Elliott composed, was a highlight of their working relationship.
