Maureen Denise McCormick was born on 5 August 1956 in Woodland Hills California the youngest and only child of Richard and Irene McCormick. Her parents were a mother who was a housewife and a father who worked as a teacher. She has three older brothers: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick has always loved performing, dancing and performing performances with puppets. She was crowned her first contest, the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest at age 6 and was then contacted via Pat Domigan, a talent agent from the Jack Wormser Agency. He requested that she be interested to join the business of show production. McCormick got her first big role when she got a part in the 1964 television commercial of Mattels latest baby doll Baby Pattaburp. Later that year she did another commercial for the companys Chatty Cathy doll and was later cast in the show The Wind It up and It Breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick, who was selected from over 1200 auditioning children to play the oldest of three double-headed daughters in The Brady Bunch (1969) with Florence Henderson and Robert Reed. The five-year run of the show was a great success. In her memoir Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice published in 2008 McCormick revealed that during the shows fifth season she almost lost her virginity due to her onscreen brother and co-star Barry Williams. The actress was only 16 at the time; he was 19. She stated, but the time was never right for us.
